Hello Creative Souls,
That's me , FINALLY painting!!! It's been a minute since I painted and as a result had some imposter syndrome creep up. But two minutes into painting and I was back home. Don't worry, it took me a lifetime to call myself creative. Anyone else? I come from a family of artists, attended art class at my mom's art school, took every art class that was available in high school, graduated college with a traditional art degree, had a huge portfolio, and STILL never considered myself creative. Until I found process painting.
Calling myself creative became an inside job, and required a big shift in perspective. I needed to give myself permission to be creative, and that was the hardest part.
What if being creative were less about the perfect, final product and more about living creatively? What if it were about not knowing and staying with the mystery, deeply listening and respecting, dealing with the difficulty when stuck, a focused presence, spontaneity, gentle movement, working with a "mistake," taking a risk, being surprised by the journey and saying yes. What if being creative was about staying curious, staying connected, and staying close to your hand and your heart?
This creative mindset can be a lifeline for all of us, and you do not need to be an "artist" to access it. Register for this next series and we'll work together to uncover it!
